How dare you insult Win2K. You deserve to be utterly annihilated.

and this helps how?
Try using the \\ notation such as \\middleearth (my server computer name). Also make sure you are in the proper domain/workgroup.

If your HDD has a FAT32 partition and the otehrs are NTFS you can't access them.

Incorrect. That does not apply at all to networks. That only applies to different OS's on the same system seeing NTFS and FAT32.

I've never been able to access a machine with NTFS from a FAT32 system.

...that's because you can't. If you have XP and 2K running on a network with NTFS drives, there shouldn't be a problem.

I have .... I have never had a problem hooking my Win95 comp up with my computer here, and sharing files, and networking.

NTFS can access FAT32, but not vice versa.
I've had 2K and 9x machines networked and they work fine. We've got it at school, too. Our once NT, now 2K (using NTFS) server has an 80 GB drive which each student has access to. The Win 95 machines can read and write to it fine.

Neither have I http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif I can't even get the **** win2kPro machine to read off of the win9x, and win98SE compts http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif I spent days trying to do it but gave up because the networking protocols and shizz are different so I gave up.

It's the protocols or some other setup, then, not filesystems. Win 2K can read NTFS and FAT32 because it has support for them. Win 9x can't do NTFS because it doesn't have support for it. It works over a network because the Win 9x machine isn't what is accessing the NTFS partition across the network. All it does is send the data and the recieving OS does the rest.

it turns out it was a combination of AOL being cancerous, and not specifying a specific IP
