I posted this also in the non-editing Jedi Knight 2 section 24 days ago but I never got any help with it and didn't know wether to put this in the JK2 editing forum or here so I felt here was the best place for it. (Since it's not related to editing of course)

Before anyone makes any remarks about how nobody checks LEC's site on the problems, I ran "GLW_StartopenGL" through the search on the board and found LEC's site. However I went through what they said to do and I analyzed my computer even though last time I installed JO it was perfect and my computer passed.
Here's the deal. I've had to install JO several times, the time before this was when my computer first had a WinME OS error and when I reinstalled it after the computer was fixed (I still had WinME then) all I had to do was replace the GameData folder with my old one and I had all my stuff back and it worked fine. Well the reason I had to reinstall JO again was because awhile back my computer had another OS problem with WinME and now I have XP so I thought maybe it would be ok and just replaced the new GameData with my old one but now I get that error. (I didn't try playing it before moving the files over)

I also installed Jedi Knight when I previously had it installed on ME and I just moved my key files over and it works fine.

The DOS screen said there was an error getting to setting 4 because it wouldn't get past setting 3? I read in the help thing about on XP it saying High Color 16-Bit was at least needed for JK2 and mine display is set to 32-Bit, is that the problem?
Currently I've got XP set to classic windows but it's still got the XP features like fade-in/fade-out stuff and the shadowed mouse.

Uhh.... that was hard to read. What exactly does the program say? The Could not Open GL Subsystem error? What?

GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem

I went through LEC's XP info and I couldn't find any help on it. Sorry if my post is hard to read, do you want me to copy and paste the text from the box?

Ahhh. I think I had this problem before...if I understand it properly. I had to update my nVidia drivers to get past this subsystem error. I dunno if this will work for other video cards.

XP graphics drivers are shipped without Open GL support, download the latest drivers from your graphics card website and it should work

If Yun's idea doesn't work, let me know what video card you have.

next time you do that ONLY copy the save games and settings files... not the entire GameData folder as it has more than just saves and setting files. (and come on, it's not that hard to setup your hotkeys =)

but yes, install the latest video drivers and make sure you have a working OpenGL on your system

Ok, so where do I find the latest drivers for my card...and find out what my card is?

To find out what your card is, do the following:
1 -> click Start
2 -> click Run
3 -> type in dxdiag
4 -> click the "Display" tab
5 -> it should say what card you have

Goto http://www.nvidia.com and download the XP drivers. http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif

I'm a newbie at this, but is all I have to do is go to "Download Drivers" section and download the latest driver or do I need a specific one?

The nice thing about nVidia's drivers is that they have one installer for all their products. You just download it, run it, and it will choose what to install for you.
