I am just going to plug all my old stuff into it.
The new board will have a different manufacturers chipset. I'm going from a VIA to an Intel chipset. Usually Windows doesn't like that. IDE troubles and so on...
Now I've upgraded mobo's before and what I get is a blue screen telling me "blah, blah, blah"
I have backed up everything but I do not want to format either one of my drives if I don't have to.

Any tips to make this transition as smooth as possible in this regard?
OS = Win2K Pro.

If you switch to a motherboard with a different chipset, Windows is probably not going to work - it will get so far in the boot process and then freeze or BSOD. If it happens, reinstall Windows...

I've read that you should reinstall Windows no matter what kind of mobo you switch to (so long as it's not the same model), but just see if Windows will boot up.
