I've had this really annoying problem with my internet for a while now. Whenever I try to download something (movies, files, etc) it will only download partially, and then stop. When I use AIM, not all of my friend's messages get sent to me. Does anyone know how to fix this? It's really getting on my nerves.

Sounds like you're getting a lot of dropped packets. Try reducing the amount of things your bandwith goes to at one time. If you have it spread too thin, it might start dropping packets. Also, run a check for spyware that may be using up bandwith.
Finally, it may just be a problem on your ISP's side. Call them and tell them you're dropping packets. See if they can help you.

I'm pretty sure it's not spyware. I have a router, which, based on what you said, may be the cause of my problems.

Are you on dial up by any chance?

You have to look at the big picture. We (as a country) spend more tax money dealing with MS blunders than we do on the software itself. And guess who MS's largest customer is? You guessed it, the government! - Brian

I was on broadband at uni and had the same IM problem - it was (I think) the hardware firewall in the router. Check its settings and see if it's got any problems (You should be able to open your web browser and type in 10.0.0.2 or something).
Hope that helps http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif
