Okay, I just burned a DVD+r data disc in nero and when i went to open it in windows explorer, the drive spun up, but it would not mount the drive. The drive spun and spun, but nothing happened.

I burned the disc on a DV+RW drive, so it should be compatible, not to mention that I tried to read it using the exact same drive that i burned it on....

Before i went to burn, I saw an option called book-mode DVD-ROM that was available but unchecked. Since I didn't know anything about it, I left it that way. could that have been a factor in this problem? What is book mode exactly?

Is there a reason why this may have happened?
I'm using comp-usa brand dvd+r discs, picked up during a sale. Could the media brand that i use play a factor?

Please advise.

It may have been a bad burn also. Did you make sure there wasn't any underrun errors during the burning process?

Can you see the session in Nero under Disc Info?

Sorry to hijack--but I need to know how to backup data with Nero. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it with a DVD. Any help is appreciated.

okay, I tried it again with a good-quality DVD+RW disc, and it worked great. I suspect my problem was due mainly to s*** media.

And Yoshi: Open nero, and wait for the screen that lets you choose what kind of cd you want to make pops up. In the upper left corner, you will see a dropdown menu that is set for CD. select DVD from the list, and you will have a choice on the types of dvds you can make.

BTW, I assume you're using v. 6.x
