I have a new router I am using on our DSL line, and I cannot seem to be able to host games (at least people cant join them) in anything. I think it has something to do with a configuration settin in the router setup. Maybe a firewall thing, but there is nothing in the router config that looks directly related to a firewall. Is there any particular setting I should be looking for that will let me host in games?

Find which ports your MP game is set to use, and make sure your router is set to forward those ports to the machine that is hosting the game.

Ok, I did that. I made a custom service for port forwarding in the router config. The game, if you are wondering is Halo. In game when the server is up it tells me my server IP is 192.168.0.3:2302, so I am assuming 2302 is the port number. Well in the custom service I told it to open ports 2000-3000. Now when I host nobody can even see the game, before they could see it, but just not join.
