I just recently switched to Firefox and I have a few questions about it. First, can I use plug-ins such as Flash or Shockwave? So far I have to switch to IE when I want to play a game or see a cartoon someone has posted.
Second, is there a way to force every link that is supposed to open in a new window to open in a new tab? Thats a big reason I got Firefox, for the tabbed browsing, but it defeats the purpose when a forum link just opens a new window.

Go to macromedia's website, and look for the flash player installer. That'll let you use flash in Firefox.
As for forcing tabs, look for an extension at the Firefox homepage called Tabbrowser extensions. It allows a ton of options for tabs.

Tabbrowser extensions is considered by many to be bloated. If you want the same functionality but with fewer extra features, look into Tabbrowser preferences, or even Single Window for the most minimalistic approach.

Perhaps, but it does everything I need in one extension. And more. In fact, the features TBE provide are mind-boggling.

Isn't that the definition of bloated? http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif
If you didn't use the installer, Firefox won't have registered itself in the registry as a browser, s the flash/shockwave installers won't pick it up as a Netscape compatible browser. There is a set of registry keys you can download off the Mozilla site that will add those bits of information.

Or install it to Firefox's plugins folder and restart Firefox, as it instructs...

That never worked when I tried it. Admittedly, that was several versions ago. Also, I was probably doing it wrong.
