View Full Version : Athlon Troubles
I bought a AMD Athlon xp 2700+ expecting it to run at 2.16 ghz, however it refuses to run past 1.29 ghz
Now the Clock speed is set at 200mhz and the multiplier is at 13x
I checked the jumper on the motherboard and it is set for 200/333/400 mhz or something similar, but I cant get the BIOS to go past 200mhz...
I'm really lost and dont know what to do.

What motherboard? Maybe the BIOS on it doesn't support above 200MHz (just a thought)

ok I just look it up and.
your 2700 should be running at
13x; 333MHz(fsb); 1.65Volts

Beat me to it http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif The 2700 runs at 166, not 200 (x2=333).

THAT sounds like a motherboard problem.

Make sure that there isn't an option in bios that is letting the software override the hardware jumper. Also, you might want to try setting the FSB in bios also, if it has the option for it.

Set the FSB to 166 in Bios.

One of my friends had the exact same problem. So, thanks for the solution.
I hate to revive an old topic, but I figured I would tell you my solution.
Instead of worrying about setting it to 333mHz I just left it at 200 and did the math.
I have it at 10.5 x 200 which gives me about 2.09
It's a little slow, but its better than 1.4 or whatever I was getting before.
Except that you multiply by 100, not the doubled DDR rate. You're running at 1.05 GHz.

He's talking about his FSB.
Try 266?

Try 166 in your BIOS. I've got a Barton 2500, they both run at 333FSB (166 x 2 - DDR).
