View Full Version : Jesus, all I wanted to do was make a simple GOB!

All I need to do is modify the accuracy, ROF, and projectile speed of the first few weapons in the game. Instead, I've been fumbling around in Jed, ConMan, and just about every other JK1 utility available. All I want to do is make a GOB with a few simple templates and COBs. I can't seem to do that without making maps, episodes and god knows what else. How do I make a mod with JUST a template and a few COBs (NOTHING ELSE)?

Also, does this game have some kind of built in frame limitation? I've got an Athlon XP 1600+ and a GeForce4 Ti4600 and the game doesn't seem to go any faster than 60fps regardless of the detail settings (Jedi Knight 2 runs at 100fps consistently). Is there anywhere I could get a good list of console and start commands that I could use to get the FPS to draw onscreen and to modify the frame limit?

Seems with the framerate that your monitor at that res is set to a max refresh rate of 60hz...

With the gob problem:
1. Go download conman (on massassi I believe)
2. Open conman, and click file\new
3. Save gob where you want it to be
4. Drag and drop files that you want in the gob onto the window.
5. You're done.

there is no built in frame limit, as far as I know. To draw the framerate, hit t, tab and then type framerate and hit enter.

No, I've got the monitor locked at 100hz (using PowerStrip) and my video card has Vsync enabled. I checked my framerate and it never goes below 99.9 but the animation still isn't smooth, with or without Vsync. Even when you're just looking around, the framerate just doesn't seem as high as it actually is. Is there any way to turn on some kind of global animation interpolation? Also the weapon animations are way too fast. When he swings his fists it looks like he's having a heart attack.

Yeah I've got conman, but it doesn't let you make your own folders. I tried just dragging and dropping the cob and jkl files into the containter and running it, but the game just crashes back to the desktop. I need to put the files into the right directories, I don't think conman will let you do that.

Yes, ConMan does. Just create a new GOB and drag the folder in. I know, it's a bit tricky sometimes, but i usually got it to work. And AFAIK, there's nothing you can do to solve your other problem. Sad, but true.
