1. I'd add a pommel to the end of the sword, that's what's going to counterbalance the blade (and historically, the blade tang ran through the grip, out the end of the pommel and then was melted and filed to hold the parts of the sword together).
2. You might want to add some form of guard. Depending on what look you're going for it could be a disk, cross, cup, basket, or any number of shapes. Check out some pics of real swords similar to the type you're wanting to make for details. MOST swords have some type of guard.
3. While some sword blades ARE narrower at the hilts then flare out at the base of the cutting edge however it seems from this image that for the width of the blade it seems awful narrow where it attaches to the hilts.
Other than that it seems like a good starting point for a Medieval European longsword.

Makes me think of those over-sized anime swords. Blade definately seems too large, and I'd HIGHLY recommend studying pictures of real weapons.

Well i was kind of going for the big anime sword type. I'm gonna work on that one but I like the size of the blade for now. I'm not gonna make all of them huge though.

Well there are things like a Zweihander o.o but I'd make the hilt a tad longer(you need to be able to hold it with two hands after all) and give it more detailing and ofcourse a handguard
And indeed, looking at swords both real and fictional would help a bit.

It doesn't look like a sword.
