I'm back with an updated Star Trek mod.

I'm sure some of you remember me and some not, but I'm the guy who used to post screenshots of Star Trek mods for MotS. Anyway, I stopped editing for a long time due to Hurricane Katrina flooding my home. About a month ago I got the urge to finish up some incomplete projects. I won't be releasing any huge single-player sagas, but I will at least try to release sections of some projects I never finished, which will mostly consist of walkthrough areas of Kirk's various ships from Star Trek.

This is the third and final time I will be recreating the Original Enterprise bridge. The first two versions were way under my current standard, so I decided to give it another go.

Note that many of the control pads and consoles feature 3D lights and buttons instead of relying on simply flat textures to do the job. Also, the screenshot size has been reduced to 640x480, just to save some of the detail for the actual release.

Also, the bridge features a red-alert mode by activating the captain's chair console (see last 5 screenshots).

Hopefully, this area will be for download soon on the JK Editing Hub. It's not very interactable, but just a 3D representation of one of my favorite sets from my favorite all-time television shows. So here it is, in all the 1960's low budget glamour....

Those 3d buttons must have been tedious, but they look awesome.

Still one of the most amazing editing I've seen anywhere.

Too bad you won't be submitting it for the SP contest! :D

The only star trek that I've watched is TNG, so I could be completely wrong when I say this. To me, it seems that while these shots are incredibly detailed, the consoles appear to be too bright and colorful. The rainbow of colors almost gives it a kiddy atmosphere rather than a sophisticated and serious feel of a real starship. Like I said though, I've only seen TNG, so whatever ship you're basing this off of may have consoles that really are that colorful.

Other than that, I absolutely love it :)

Click on the link above to view some pictures of the original bridge. Most pictures on the page are of a set built for the recent Enterprise TV series, and although the set is pretty accurate, it still contains some differences from the original set used in the late 60s. However, it still contains the brightly colored display screens seen on the original. (The first shot on the page linked above is of the original pilot, which reflects how the bridge looked before the colorful color scheme was added)

It must be understood that when the Original Series aired, it was during the time when color TV was just becoming wildly popular. The producers wanted the show to quench the viewer's thirst for color, so they chose a bright, highly saturated primary color scheme for many sets of the show. Something that I actually like about the original trek.

Showcase posts by either you or Ruthven have a special way of attracting my eye. I was impressed in 2003, as well as today. Most excellent work!

Wow! Is really great to see you again on the editing of JK, BombShellRapture!

I've been always impressed by all your quality stuff, and i've been waiting for your return someday! Yey! I think many people (me included) would have loved to have a walktrought at all your nicely detailed Star Trek ships based levels, i still remember those WIPs as some of the greatest detailed level desings done on JK, but you have surprassed all expectations with this one! Great one! Keep your impressing work coming!

BSR! Glad to see you haven't given up on the Star Trek maps. Please finish them, they are way too awesome and unique to not see the light of day.

I've always loved your work, Bombshell.

(PS- You probably don't remember this, but I still have 4 nofx covers of yours that you sent me over AIM. Horrible quality, but makes me think of your star trek mod everytime they come up on shuffle.. >.>)

one crit of the new version, though, it seems horribly underlit. it was always very bright on the bridge as i recall.

looks like the darker pics are of when the ship is at red alert, you can see the red alert lights beside the turbolift and viewscreen are glowing and traditionaly the lighting is lowered while in red alert... which does not make much sense to me... why lower the lights when your in combat... don't you want to see what your doing? but I guess it adds drama and a sense of urgency to the sceen if it's darker.

You can divert some of that precious power going to lightibg to weapons, shields. Wouldn't help a lot, but I guess it might, a little.

BSR, all of your shots, even since the first version of these, have looked more and more spectacular. Even if you only make a few particular rooms out of the entire ship these levels deserve to be released. You could just make a generic holodeck/dflt hallway between rooms if nothing else.
