That looks beautiful. One question, though -- how did you achieve the bright light/glow in the ring transporter?

That looks... outstanding except for some of those blatantly low-res textures there and there.

Yet that still seems to be the only level you're showcasing. Good job nevertheless!

texture lighting/multi cells.+ real shadow layers

FG, i have many different levels, but this one is the 1st to be released, hence i'm working on it constantly.

Its a very small level, a section of land the size of 2 football pitches, with enemy incursion and firefights, all providing an example of what other levels offer.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){

Jesus Christ. It's unreal what you're able to do with such a crappy engine.

Any chance the whole thing will be done before 2020?

About the same chance as Ruthy spontaneously sprouting D cups.

I can't figure out what that thing is in the "seeker" images. I'm guessing it's a "seeker" but I can't ever recall seeing it before in Stargate.

2008-03-14, 7:40 PM #13
On that seeker, your texture should probably be more than just a photo.

I can post said photo.

Other than that, top notch.

i know zully only placed the main texture going to add further layers of screen lighting and dodge with some scratches, and change the colouring. but i love that photo texture it was ideal.

the seeker is the nickname for the alien muon-plasma pistol i designed. the alien race who made them date back to before the ancients came to this galaxy, and were the enemy of the furling (some unimportant back story of the game).

The seeker was found in the ground, still intact, at teh site of the archeological dig.

this 1st level has only 4 weapons, staff, glock, seeker, and grenades.

oh btw, that fern bush responds to you walking through it, or explosions near it. I recently added shadows to it, these shadows now also move with the plant.

So... Very... AMAZING!

I never thought JK was capable of this(yes, I've seen your earlier posts).

You know whats amazing about this is that you could probably do it in Quake II in half the time and it would look 100% better.

That's awe-inspiring.

Make sure you don't get too carried away on little details instead of pushing to finish this, though.

The "little details" are what sets this project (and at least one other I know of ;)) apart from every other JK/MotS project to date. This level will not be merely enjoyed, it will be marveled at. I say keep it up, Ruthven.

All I have to say is this is way better than any 17 year old. Now if you had said 21 year old, or at least 18 year old... that might be different. :ninja:

Genk, somebody is working on a high res version of JK:

2008-04-14, 6:59 PM #31
Wow, that's horrible. No really, ugly as sin.

LEC hired amazing texture artists to work on JK. It's going to be hard to top their work. It would a better idea to simply redraw existing textures in higher resolution, rather than make new, different ones.

I think his Nar Shadaa textures were on the right track, though his outdoor textures seem to be deviating too far from the original textures, and are kind of hard on the eyes.

[Edit] I guess he got his Nar Shadaa textures from the team who was going to be remaking JK in JA or something that never completed their project but released all of their textures.
