Got GTA IV for 10 bucks. Here's hoping Dragon Age goes up for something insane.

I loved all of the Unreal games & this is a pretty sweet deal. However, I can't believe that the regular price for Unreal Gold is $10. That game is ancient & shouldn't be any more than $5 tops.
? :)

Does anyone else have any suggestions for "classics" / must-plays and so on? Preferably 10 bucks or less.

I considered GTA IV briefly but the buy page says it has SecuROM

I looked at the Unreal Pack too. I don't have UT3 or U2: The Awakening, but I already have all the others. Would they let me gift those? It would be cheaper to get the pack than buy UT3 alone.

And for the record, I thought Unreal was boring.

Probably will go back and buy Beyond Good and Evil today.

Evil Genius, Broken Sword and Mirror's Edge are all games I've bought recently too.

So far, excellent choices all round :D

25% off L4D2 is tempting me, but I might leave it for a few days to see if it turns up in the special offer stuff.

Ghostbusters is only a fiver, was it any good?
nope.
2009-12-23, 7:52 AM #23
I thought it was good. I played on the PS3 at full price. For five, I would say probably. I'm tempted to get it to play it again.

If anyone even remotely likes tower defense games, GET DEFENSE GRID. It is quite possibly the most polished, balanced, innovative and beautiful games in its genre. It has a storyline that is enough to keep you interested, provided by an ingame computer narrator who is actually quite a good voice actor. The controls are simple, the game isn't terribly graphically demanding (yet it looks great on higher settings as well), there's a lot of maps plus additional challenges, and more.

For $2.50, easily a great buy! I've had it since it came out at original price. It's also on the 360 now, but not for that price.

Not related to the steam sale, but I just bought Shadow Complex on the 360 cause it was on sale for 800msp

Also, keep yours eyes on the dashboard because they have a new deal every day until the new year.

Just bought Ghostbusters and STALKER for under 9 bucks. I swear, Steam will be the death of my checking account.

Have you (or Tibby or anyone else who is well-acquainted w/ STALKER) tried Stalker Complete? How does it compare? It was recommended on Slickdeals

Slash, any opinions on the SecuROM in GTA IV?

Stalker Complete is absolutely amazing... looking.
Gameplay wise it sticks very close to the original, which is good if that's what you want I guess.
I prefer lurk because of the changes it makes and because it adds a billion weapons.
I've worked on integrating complete and weapons mods before, I'm waiting for the next lurk release to try again.

Recently bought Torchlight (AWESOME), STALKER, Braid, Audiosurf, Machinarium all for pretty much pennies, and all of which will run on my laptop. One thing that is particularly jawesome about Torchlight is the cloud saving. Play on desktop, save game goes to steam cloud, play on laptop, pick up right where I left off. <3 all games should have this.

Bought Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and the Unreal pack. This should keep me busy over the holidays. Anyone fancy some UT once I get it installed? That's about the most recent thing I can be sure will run on this laptop. Although Far Cry *might*.
