HOW DO YOU MAKE A FORCE FIELD W/ SWITCH???
2001-05-11, 3:40 PM #1
I'm sorry, but i cant seem to be able to figure out how to make a force field with off/on switch(es). I have used all of the COGs that I can find, but none work. For the flags I use SURF FLAGS: 6, FACE FLAGS: 2, and for ADJOIN FLAGS: 1D. Is there anything that I should do differently? For the switches, i do used in cog (for the flags) so i am stumped. HELP ME!!!

You can try the modified 10_forcefield cogs I have on my website. -->

Let us know if you still have problems. 10_FFieldSwitch.cog (from JK) is the best cog to use because it allows switches and textured mats.

EDIT: Set the Face flag at 2 for translucent but leave the surface flag at 0 and leave the adjoin flag alone, don't change it -- the cog takes care of these two.

Yes, I use the PRL_10_FFieldSwitch.COG in a level I'm making. It works fine and lets you work two forcefields from the same switch. The other 10_FFieldFlip.COG lets you have the forcefield off at the start and you can switch it on later.

Ha ha, we're leapfrogging with our posts.... see my edited first post about flags. For the forcefield surfaces (both sides) you set the face flags at 2 if you want the mat to be translucent when the field flashes. But the surface flags you leave as 0 so you don't see the field unless you hit it.

If you want the forcefield visible all the time then set the surface flags at 4, the face flags at 2, and use a different cog that doesn't change the surface flags.

EDIT: and next time don't post in all CAPS, that's a no no in these forums. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]
