How does JK handle coordinates, i.e. is x horizontal, y vertical, and z depth? Does JK invert, alternate, or otherwise screw around with the system?

Z is verticle movement, X and Y are lateral movement. For X and Y, there's not really one set direction..like..X isn't always in front of the player, Y isn't always to the left, but Z is. X and Y is like on a compass. North isn't always forward.
