for some reason, a new actor COG i made (the syntax is correct) does not associate with its object...anything that may be causing the problem?

We need some details. How are you associating it? If it's through a JKL, are using JED or doing it manually? And if you're doing manually, post the code.

oh, it's simply used as the actor cog in the master.tpl file...cog=actor_newatst.cog

First you need to find out whether the template or the cog is the problem.

Change the template's cog to an original LEC cog and see if that works. If it does, then the template is alright.

To test your new cog, put a print in the created message. If it prints, your cog is running and associated correctly. But if it doesn't, something is wrong with your cog. Either way, if the cog is to blame, post it here.

well, it works sometimes, it doesn't work other times...i tried it with an LEC COG, it works only when it wants to
