Puzzling Actor Flags
2002-07-31, 1:47 PM #1
I've been experimenting with actor flags lately, and some of them I can't figure out.

0x400: The JKSpecs says that this makes an actor deaf, but it doesn't work.
0x1000: ?
0x4000: ?
0x8000: This flag is used with Sariss, Jerec, and the Kell Dragon.
0x10000: This flag does nothing, but is cleared if the creature moves or turns.
0x20000: This flag is used with some AI.
0x2000000: This flag is used with the more powerful AI.

Does anyone know what any of these flags does?

Ive never fiddled much with actor flags. . . But perhaps...

0x8000: Bypasses any "flee" instinct? Or any instict that would direct the AI away from the player?
0x10000: Idle?
0x20000: Define "some AI"...
0x2000000: Perhaps similar to 0x8000?

  • You sure about that SaberMaster, I haven't really tried it?
  • 0x8000 long shot here - maybe no head pitch? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif]
  • 0x10000 GBK beat me to it. I dunno also. And how did ya figure that out? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif]
  • 0x2000000 is in JKspecs. "Can see in the dark"
Maybe 0x8000 is what 0x2000000 is? Only thing I can think of to link Sarris, a Kell, and Jerec together. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif]

As with GBK, I haven't really looked into Actor Flags, for me, it's more been Thing Flags. BTW what does the AI flag 0x1000 mean?

Well... No results. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

AI like Tuskans, Stormtroop4s, Mynoks, Bossks, Gammoreans, etc. But not all AI have this.

I also thought it might be idle, but the flag is not given to players or actors when they start idling. This could be part of an earlier idle system.

Trial and error for the most part. I set set and cleared flags with a hotkey, and I had a pulse to print the creature's flags.

And they're apparently wrong. AI can still fire in darkness whether they have this flag or not. I wish CA had been more descriptive.

I've never used it before. It's a flag that's cleared from AI in several LEC cogs, but I'm not sure what that does.

Pilot, the 0x1000 AI Mode Flag means that the actor is not attacking. It's assigned to all actors on startup if they're not in view of the player. The flag is cleared the first time the player sights the actor or when the actor senses the player.
