I am using notepad to write my cogs. How do I change the extension of the file to .cog?

When you save- in the filename text box put the complete filename and in the type box select ALL Files.

save dialog -

Filename: yourfile.cog
Save As Type: All Files
Encoding: ANSI

Or you can simply put it in quotation marks.

"Mycog.cog"

That is, in notepad.

The_New_Guy's version does only work when you have assigned cog to "always open in" Notepad. Else, use quotation marks when saving.

Hmmm maybe it's an operating system thing.
Im running WinXP Home.

My method works for me when the *.cog file type isnt registered at all. Clicking on a cog brings up the 'Windows cannot open this file dialog' and asks me to use a web service or select a program to open it.

Anyway I just tested some more and it allows you to save any file name correctly * provided you change the type to ALL Files, not the default Text Documents (*.txt) file type.

I got 98 and it saves it as bla.cog.txt when cog is not linked to notepad and no quotation marks are used.

My notepad will save as a .cog extension if I select all files instead of text files in the save dialog box. Otherwise it adds a txt extension.
