Hi there [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I believe ".wav" is currently the only supported sound file type, but you can't save it properly with Windows Sound Recorder, I believe (plus it's a bizarre sound quality setting - not one of the regualar "levels" of sound, I think...).

If you're asking about how to add sound to a level, I think you'll probably get a more informative answer, asking this question in the "Editing Forum"; that said, if you want to know how to play sounds in JK & MOTS then read up on the "Sound" verbs, in SaberMaster's DataMaster - that has all the necessary flags/settings/parameters that your souund will ever need to play in-game [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Hope this helps (at least a little way) to solving your problem... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

First, I recommend Goldwave for sound file conversions.

Second, If your sound file is over a minute long, you're entering dangerous territory. JK won't handle most sound files over a minute. Also, if your sound file is higher quality than 16-bit, I'm pretty sure jk will crash.

I personally have made wavs that were closer to 5 minutes and they worked without problems, it just took a few seconds for the game to load the song because it was 30 megs.

But, yeah, get goldwave, the default settings for wavs should work for JK and MotS.

Hm... 30 megs? Funny, the sound won't play if I go over 3-6 megs (3 mono - 6 stereo). But I guess it is all about what kind of computer one has. Oh, and the standard JK sound quallity is 11KHz (if you chose to use low qual sound) or 22Khz (if you chose to use high qual sound), 16-bit, mono (if you want the sound to emit from an object) or stereo (can only be used in PlaySoundLocal or PlaySoundGlobal or Sector Sound). But I've found out that you can play any sound quallity from 8khz-48khz, 8-bit to 16-bit, stereo or mono, as long as I stick to the rules of what to use where (PlaySoundLocal,Global,Sector,Thing,Pos,etc...). But I still keep under 3-6 megs. If the sound/song is too long, then I chop it up into several pieces and COG them together.

Oh, by the way... I use ModPlug Tracker for that job.

There are quite a few possible wave formats out there, not including sample rates and such. JK may be more compatable with some than with others.

I just realized this when making some nice music! I can play sounds that are down to 4Khz, but you won't hear the "hiss sounds" (hiss sounds, like High hat, pssts, etc). I wonder what will happen at 1khz?

yeah... jk might have some kind of sound "interpolater" to avoid bad quality sounds at low sample rates... maybe...
