I should use a VB app because of a catchy name? Which you just stole, anyway.

Wait, wait, wait, hold it. Lemme get this straight. Your flaming me because I used a common naming theme? You insulting the program because I decided to give it a name that sounded like a bloody text editor? Its not a crime to use *pad in a name, nor should anyone be insulted for doing so.

Oh geez - you've gotta love how "interesting" this place gets - never a dull moment ... or is there ... maybe that's why we're all here as opposed to living in the real-world...

Anyways, I've got to say from the screenies I've seen of the program, it doesn't look awe-inspiring. That said, I appreiciate the fact that most of microsoft's Windows products don't look visually stunning, but they do the job and they have more than enough facilities to accomodate for your average user. Essentially, I was more impressed with the descriptions of what the program could do, although I'll wait until I get to work to download the program before bringing it back home to test.

That said, "the selector" (or however it's spelt in "1337 speak" - I always had something more ... "meaningful" to do to occupy my time than learn that particular foreign language [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] ) does sound impressive.

At the end of the day though - as long as you have the verbs and flags that are documented in the DataMaster, then.... well anyways - I'll download and test, before I pass any further critical comments, but - ahead of time - nice job GBK [http://forums.massassi.net/html/cool.gif] - The longer we can maintain interest in the JK editing community, the better, so anything that makes the editor's life easier is fine by me [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Just my tuppence worth...

i use it, but.. at the same time i use notepad AND CogWriter...

i find that cogwriter is better for the newbie. as its lie writer and other features are usefull...

cogpad's main ability is it can call at will a full parsec (so mutch ownage!) and that it can check if your statmets are correct (so if you cant rember wheater its JKlocalplayer or JKgetlocalplayer or JKgetlocalplayerthing.. it will tell you if you got it right..

the one this that ******* *****'s me off is that my faviorite high speed key combos (that own) is Ctrl+X is used for the above mentioed syntax checking.

and useing key combos insted of clicking meus wiht the mouse if you ask me is the sighn of a pro as you dont spend ttime with dumb slow menues.. and thats why i can type a door cog in thirty secods [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif].

but then sometimes i just go back to writeing cogs in notepad... i dunno why when i can so easaly just use a block of stone and a chisle.. LOL

so realy i use all three [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Regardless, it is definitely an admirable feat of code, for which I commend you.

What's verify? I'm talking about the regular shortcut to cut text. I... can't see why that's useless, or why you should be forcing everyone who uses your software to think the way you do. I mean, you generally want to target general audience, not yourself. If you're trying to help other people, which you apparently are.

I'm not trolling, I'm trying to give you advice on targetting the genereal audience, which you seem to be refusing.

Im not targetting a general audience, Im targetting coggers. Ive never, ever, not a sinlge time in my entire life, used the cut command. Never. So, naturally, when Im laying out my shortcuts, cut isnt high on my priorities.

As soon as you "put out" your program it´s not for you personal use only and you should really try to make it as user friendly you can.

You don´t want to mess with de facto standards like the shortcuts for Cut/Copy/Paste, you will only piss off the users that actully use Cut, which would be most of them if I would guess.

I, for example, woulden´t touch a "text editor type"-program that don´t have Ctrl+X bound to the Cut command since I use it quite extensivly when I write code.

My 2 SEK.

I would not be able to, I don´t know any VB and I haven´t written a COG in years so I don´t really need it in CogPad. It was just an advice, I hope you diden´t take it the wrong way.
