Regional damage... but not on players

Hey, i've heard of mods that use regional damage (ie. shooting somebody in the head causes more damage then shooting them in the foot). I assume they do it with 3do meshes. I want to do it to an archi. 3do that I have. Is it difficult to do such a thing?

I would imagine easier. Or at least more reliable, 'cause you probably don't have damage regions that should move like they should on a player.

Accually, no its not. Its just getting the X, Y, and Z differences and making a judgement based on those.

I mean you wouldn't have to worry about registering hits when an animation doesn't match up. Obviously your regions are different when you're in the middle of some crazy animation like a flip or back hand spring.

Ouch! Sounds time consuming.

That depends on the type of thing. If it doesn't move/animate, it will be quite easy. The more complex the thing is (like was said: backflips and such) will make this idea more complicated.

Well, i was trying to figure it out for regional damage on archi 3do's in Attack on Theed. And unfortunently, for this venture atleast, i made the 3do's i would have in a certian sector one 3do, so I would not reach the thing limit so fast. What I was thinking of right now was the base of an arch being damaged. But the center of the 3do is far from the base of the arch.

The backflip thing - if you get shot in the head or the crotch, it still does the most damage, so it should be alright.

Duel Zero : Released the beta. Probably the end of it. Not to worry though, I'm working on Randsaber, which is a lot better.
