Beyond...

If any of you have seen the Animatrix, you know what I'm talking about. In the short "Beyond" the kids were jumping from high places then stopping just before the ground, and they were also jumping into the air and 'floating' for a couple of seconds.

My idea is to have a cog that when a player jumps (for that user) have the sector be flagged as water. Any other ideas, such as lower gravity with a sector-trust might be a bit of a hassel. I'd also like ALL items to act as if in water.

Which brings me to my next question: I believe not, but are projectiles effected within water? And if not, are they effected by sector-trust? I know Blood-Asp's JKA level had sectorthrust for the projectiles, but was there anything done differently in that case?

So I'm basically looking for a cog that'd creat a few seconds of low gravity and slower movement when a player jumps, and when they use weapons. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also hoping this'd be only activated in one sector (You jump in any other sector, and it's normal) but it effects all sectors, just in-case you jump out of that sector, you don't slam down onto the ground suddenly.

I'm not sure how clear I was on the seconds thing. I don't want the player to have low gravity the entire jump, I want them to speed up after a second or so.

Also, would it be possible to stop the player if they're going to get fall damage, then let go of them again and set them on the ground in this sector? So, if they are jumping from the high ceiling of the sector, then they're about to get fall damage, they stop .05 JKU above the ground and then are re-dropped with no damage.

And, another question; is it possible to have custom cheats? I type t in SP and then type "Rabbit Hole" I have all force? It'd be fine if they were just replacements for the already made cheats, but it'd be even better if I could make my own cheats for it. Such as, lower gravity, and whatnot. If the above is possible, would it also be possible in MP, for the host? Then the host could use console-like commands to control the game-type between arcade, with unlimited ammo, or normal mode with ammo.

Thanks,
JediKirby

[P.S. When I say Sector, it should really be sector(s) in case I need to cleave up the sector with all this fun stuff happening in it.]

Unfortunately, I think the cheats are hard-coded in the jk exe. So it's impossible to have your own console cheats. The next best thing would probably be a secret sequence of keys for a cheat or something similar, or hotkeys for the different modes like in SSR Pro.

Curse Lucas Arts for never releasing their code. That's just what we need around here. JK is such a powerful and flexible engine and we've got so many exceptionally good designers on Massassi we could make some brilliant mods and conversions. If Ruthy can do what he is now without the source code, imagine what might be possible with it in our hands. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I hate to break this moment of triumph, but can we stick to my major questions? The cheat-code thing was really just a side-question.

I'm not sure if there's a reliable way to check for jumping without MotS' key trapping. You can check to see if you're attached to the ground or not, but if you fall off or get blown off, you have some trouble. Unless you can check for the current animation, that would work. But I never tried, so I don't know.

There was a cog at saber's domain that attempts to see what a player is doing. You might try looking at that.

Bump.

Anyone interested in helping me with this? Checksum suggested I use air-drag and whatnot rather than focus it only on the jump. If someone would be willing to increase the air drag and whatnot then if the player isn't touching a certain surface for mor than x seconds, the airdrag goes back to normal for that character. Maybe the entire floor in this area could be used as the 'if touching' thingy. (Bear with my lack of cog knowledge.)
