I need a site or 2 with some free 360 degree backdrops. as shone in zindle and the skate park for the new rolling mod. If you know a good site, that would be helpful. Also, when your making a big backdrop, say the size of the one at the skatepark, what kind of mats or bm's do I do.

You can create your own 360° backgrounds with a free tool called Terragen. Or you could search the web for something like GOOGLE: [360° terragen texture]...

Or, you can go to the middle of nowhere, with a camera, and take 360° pictures.

I'd take Bryce and do something like that.

And about what type, well... You can either choose 16-bit or 8-bit and try to stick to 256x256. If your picture is very large and you wish to keep the quallity, then chop it up into nice little bite sizes...

I vaguely recall Cave Demon making a huge batch of skybox textures a while back. I'll see if I can find them. Also, A Pirate's Tale 5&6 and Galactic Locations featured, large high-qulaity 16-bit skyboxes. I'm not sure if the authors mind you using them, but ask because those are about half a dozen or more excellent skyboxes.

Well the correct term for backdrops would be skymaps, and they are put in sky boxes.

Most sky boxes do the 360 degree view, but work with 6 textures, in a cube shape hence the name skybox. Anything else, won't really work... like if you get 1 huge picture of a 360 degree view, that wouldn't work.
