Parent templates?
2005-06-21, 7:25 AM #1
So I downloaded this Tree 3DO from Massassi, wich contains two parts: tree_base.3do and tree_top.3do. The Base is displaying fine in my level, but the Tree Top is invisible: I can walk on it, but I don't see it.

The author claims he put _ghostdecor as the parent template. Is this the cause of this? In my Master Templates file, the two 3dos are set as _walkstruct. I don't get it.

Any help?

It sounds like your problem is not with your templates, but with your 3do placement. My understanding is that a 3do is only rendered if the sector in which it's "placement point" is also rendered. Try moving the 3do around a bit, or making the sector in which it resides a bit bigger.

3do's dont really come with templates... you have to create the template yourself when you want to include them in your level.

I tried placing the 3DO in a vast empty space, but still it doesn't show up.

Have you tried making a new template for it?

Yes. I deleted it and started back, still no tree showing up. :(

Ok. That does it. I'm making my own tree 3DO in JED.

EDIT: It finally worked, thanks for the help. T'was the 3DO.
