Is it legal to use skins textures from MOTS on JK. Provided that I take no credit for them?

Um... no, it's illegal. You can only port from JK to MotS considering that to own MotS you'd have to have owned JK.

Unless, of course, you're talking about user made material.

Well hear is the deal I have made multiplayer versions of the undead sith and gold robot. I of course used the mats from MOTS.

One of my friends thought that MOTS was old enough that the copy right laws consering that kind of thing had expired. If not I guess I could always release those seperet. Then those of us who now how could always export them into JK.

Copyright laws take about 75 years to expire.

If you had posted this thread 3 or 4 years ago, it probably would have been closed. These days though... it's become a matter of what is neccessary to keep the editing community alive for these 8 year old games.

Look at it this way- yes, probably no one would really care if you used the mats, but if you put the effort into making your own mats for the model, not only would you have accomplished more, but you'd have also improved your skills in editing games and made yourself that much more valuable to the community. I would suggest at least giving it a try before you go ahead and use the MotS textures.

Well I guess I'll give it a go on the textures the thing is they are stareing me in the face in MOTS. I have never been to good with textures (making people ones that is). I put more emphisis in recycleing mats when ever possable. But as master Yoda says "fear leads to anger, anger to hate, hate to suffering"

Well, you should be warned. Though it's not honestly that big of a deal, just know that Massassi will not host your files if they have copyrighted material in them. (IE stuff from MotS in JK) I just wanted to warn you so you didn't go through all the work and then not get to distribute it. You might try the wadfather. Just do a google search for it. It's a great texture site.

Well we'd have to know about it first to reject it. I wouldnt be surprised if there were more than a few JK Projects hosted at massassi that contain MotS material, simply because we didnt know about it when the file was posted.

Where do I find this Wadfather? Yes there are some files that I have downloaded from here that have MOTS stuff (mainly level objects).

just type in "wadfather" at google.com and it should be one of the first sites, I don't know it off hand.

I could be wrong, but I think Massassi already hosts at least 2 maps that have mats taken from MotS and used for JK... The stained glass 03w07.mat in Drazen Isle and Chaos Eternal.
