You've seen the ones out there. What's wrong with them? Where do they most notably fall short?

Original JK doesn't give you much in the lines of good outdoor 3dos or textures. Good outdoor maps have plenty of surfaces (ie not boxy) and plenty of custom 3dos and mats. Look at Forest or Heart of the Forest maps, those were good I remember. (one is for MotS)
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth

Yeah, Ortheza definitely knows his stuff when it comes to making stuff look foine. What do you suggest about "outdoor" gameplay?

First of all, unless you're a demi-god at natural architecture like Ortheza and perhaps Friend14, use HellCat's Terrain Generator.

It was released to the general public about a year or two ago. Basically, it takes a BMP "heightmap" and converts it to a triangulated 3DO which you can texture using Force Remap and then import into JED for use in or as your level. Probably best used in conjunction with a skybox, tree 3dos, and weather effects such as rain, etc.

I'll upload the program here. More info is included inside the zip:

This is why I stuck with a city environment for my outdoor level.

A lot of outdoor levels are too simple and the people making them need to look closer at the great outdoors, no offense to them. Especially ones based on the real world, and they still use JK scale doors when real life doors aren't twice the height of a grown man.

Why is the answer to why always why? Why is there no final answer to why? Simply why not? Holy cow, this is pretty deep, meaningful **** I wrote. Glad I wrote it down. Oh man."

I would be superpsyched if you would give me some examples! :)

Heck, I'll even give you my e-mail if you don't want to offend anybody.
