Few questions.

I have a few questions that I wanted to ask, so here they are:

1. Now that the full verson of JkEdit is out, which is better? JED or JkEdit?

2. In a level, which takes up more "cpu/ram/framerate", 3Dos or all Surfaces (AKA just normal cleaved out sectors and etc.)?

3. When a level is finished, what things should you do to increase speed and framerate in a level so that it works faster?

I'll probably have more, but answer these if you can. Thanks.

1. JED
2. You probably mean which one runs faster. Difficult to say. You'd need a really old machine to test this, cause JK plays at >100 fps even on quite suxy machines.
3. You can't do much when the level is finished. A good level has to be planned properly, and that contains performance tests with prototypes of problematic level areas...
There is a plugin called VertexAssassin, which deletes unnecessary vertices. But it's application shouldn't lead to a noticeable framerate increase...

1) JED, of course
2) 3do's will probably run slower. I think all surfaces archi/3do are rendred the same, but 3dos render all possible surfaces that can be seen by the player, even if they are covered up by other surfaces on the 3do. Dynamic lighting is required to light 3dos decently, though. This can probably lower the framerate.
3) an LOD(level of detail) system could work, especially on 3dos. For architecture, you could "unadjoin" certain adjoins where the player won't see passed anyway(tops of buildings into sky viewed from the ground, windows from a far, doorways from a far, small indentations in the architecture from a far.)

Why is the answer to why always why? Why is there no final answer to why? Simply why not? Holy cow, this is pretty deep, meaningful **** I wrote. Glad I wrote it down. Oh man."

For staircases, use the SMART method, so that the player doesnt cross adjoins/sectors while moving up the stairs:

As for surfaces/3do's the rendering cost is about the same. Adjoins however, can take quite a toll on the framerate.
