A cry for help...
2005-08-04, 11:00 AM #1
My brother and I were working on a level, but after we inserted the music and tried to load it, it came up with a screen in JK saying 'Cannot Load Level!'. If any of you have a suggestion, please reply to this cry for help...

Sincerely,

Did you try the level without the music to make sure that's the problem?? Learn how to troubleshoot..

In fact, we did try it without the music and it loads the level fine! That's what is weird... Maybe it's because it's a song that I converted to .wav? Also another problem has shown itself: when we try to get custom images that are in the .mat format, it shows the image upside down. What the heck is up with that?

If they show upside down they can be rotated. Are you using JED?

Why is the answer to why always why? Why is there no final answer to why? Simply why not? Holy cow, this is pretty deep, meaningful **** I wrote. Glad I wrote it down. Oh man."

No, I'm not using JED and I probably never will. I prefer to see the textures BEFORE I test out the levels that I make. I used Sound Forge 7 to convert the MP3 to the .wav format, which usually works pretty good. Could I have an outdated version, maybe? By the way, know of any programs that can convert MP3's or .wav's to the format that Jedi Knight uses?

JED lets you see the textures before testing.

JK only likes using certain kinds of sounds as far as I know. 8-bit mono always seems to work. Audacity is a free sound program that I used to use.

JED: press F12 to 3d preview
JKEDIT: press T when selected surface to edit texture size/pos/rot
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth

It's not the right format of .WAV, there are different types and qualities. Get Goldwave and I can help you.

Methinks you should read the mp3 thread. Ya know. The one I don't feel like looking up right now. :p

Cuz .mp3's are so much smaller than .wavs, which is better for everyone in the end. But to these guys, you listen. They are correct in telling you that the .wav file is not in the JK-preferred format.
