Music CD ain't playing!
2005-09-01, 1:19 PM #1
Hi!
If this isn't the place to put this, then move me...

Anyway, for some strange reason, the JK Audio CD won't play anymore. I hear it fine when playing through the CD player, but when playing the game, the music is no longer there. My music volume is on Max, the CD volume in Windows is loud enough, and I have the correct CD in. Is this some after results of the XTension thing?

JK plays the CD through analog playback, and WMP plays through digital playback.

What does that mean? WMP "rips" the digital audio from the CD, processes it with EQ/SRS and whatever effects you may be using, and plays it back through your sound card. JK, using analog playback, means it uses the CD-ROM drive as a normal CD-player. The CD-ROM drives reads the music, converts it to an analog signal, and it is sent directly to the sound card through a special cable, without ever being processed by the computer.

So make sure you have one of these hooked up between the CD-ROM drive and your sound card:

Ah!

Huh?

Well, I don't think this cable will work since this is a LapTop. Not alot can fit into it.
But, I was SURE the music did work before! I was sure about that! Any other suggestions? Emulator? Another winma.dll that might help?

XTension hijacks the CD playing COG verbs to play the MP3/MOD files; I'm pretty sure it disables standard CD playback.
