incorrect 3do positions

Last bug in DM_Diamond before it is done. (In time for the jkhub deadline, I can't believe it!)

In my level there is a hexagonal catwalk, which is made out of six equal parts.
I aligned them perfectly in JED and they also show up perfectly on the Host computer.
But on all other PCs the parts seem grossly misaligned. They vary in x/y/z positions of certainly up to 0.05 JKU making it look very messy.

Is this common or maybe because of rounding errors (because of my triangular/hexagonal level shape the 3do's aren't exactly placed at round numbers)?

I can easily fix it by merging all 3dos to one since I changed the layout slightly and they are now all in the same sector. But I wanted to know the answer to this anyway.

note: the 3dos are not involved in COG activity

I'm not sure what causes that problem. Merging them was a much better solution any how. An alternative to that would have been to import them all into one file. Change the +Layer value to something different (simply numbering 1-6 would be fine). Place them in the configuration you wanted them and then do the following.

In 3do Hierarchy...

Add missing Nodes.
Select the first node and do the following:
Move the 'light blue' point it showes you (that's the individual 3do's origin) to the center of the configuration ([0/0/0] works great).
Do the same for the other five nodes.

Now export them one at a time as a different 3do.

An alternative to that is if they are each exactly alike, line the all up in one file, do the above for the first node, then just export it and rotate the other five duplicates as needed. You should be able to put their 'origin' at the exact same position. The only thing that would be different is their yaw value.

Dammit Friend14, you always beat me to the real hard 3DO questions.

I would have done everythng he said, especially the merging. Do any of these 3DOs have frames? Have you retried their templates? I've never had that issue with templates, but it could be.

I just merged them all now and it doesn't seem to happen anymore. They didn't have frames. Their template was made in Jed, by giving walkstruc as parent

It seems to happen alot. It's one of those bugs that occurs on the client side. I remember it from testing Mada's island level where those who joined could swim underneath the islands but the host couldn't (due to the position of the island varying on client side).

I wonder if using a "flicker" cog to create and destroy the objects locally would correct that problem...
