16 bit Mat Transparency Trouble
2006-06-21, 5:54 PM #1
I am using mat 16 to make a
texture have transparency. My
bitmap is fine and the mat
looks like it should work in Jed
but ingame it renders with
nearly the whole texture being
transparent. Can anyone help
me on this. I don't fully get
16 bit transparency apparently.

Um, I think you're confusing words. Show me a picture of the mat, if possible. Tell me what parts you want transparent. I think I know what you're trying to say, but I'm not sure.

Ditch Mat16 (except for batch converts) and instead, use JKpaint. In Mat16, if your transparency color is black, any pixils that are very close to 0 0 0 will also be made transparent. I think this is largely due to Mat16's conversion routine. JKpaint, on the other hand, much more closely converts pixil colors and thus, in general, only true 0 0 0 black pixils in the original will become transparent when you convert it.

That's what I needed to know.
Kirby, I can't show you a pic yet.
It'll spoil the suprise...
