Hey,
my friends and I are building a Jedi Knight Mod and we are having some
trouble.
First, we can't seem to find a way to re-skin other models (Example: edit
Yun skin to look like a different person).
Second, we have read the "Friendly Actors" tutorial, but could you send a
copy of what a cog would look like for a friendly Yun as a real copy to look
at so that we fully get how to make one of our own? Third, we are making a
map, and the Dark Jedi we added to it has no visible saber, what do you
suggest to fix this? Also, as part of our map, we're adding separate rooms
colored to a certian saber color, each containing a seperate saber 3DO which
has a blade of the room saber color. We would like the player to start out
without a saber, and to pick up a saber of their color choice. Is it
possible to have this feature? Next, is it possible to create a
roundelevator 3DO? And also, is it possible to go into a Bacta Tank
(of water)
that heals your health when you swim in it? Finally, how do you make
teleporters, that, when stood on, take you to another area?

1. Skinning: Find the textures that are used for the character you want (Yun), pull them out of the gob and edit them, then put them back with the same name. That's the easy fix. But, if you want Yun to still be in the mod and there to be a *second* guy that uses Yun's model, then you'll need to extract the 3do, open it in notepad and find the texture list. Save your cooresponding textures with new names (ie newguyfa.mat (for the guy's face)), then overwrite the filenames with the names of your new textures.

2. Friendly Actor cog: Can't help you there, and your description was a bit vague. Try posting in the cog forum, or look through some of the other cogs in the res2.gob that are similar to what you're looking for.

3. Dark Jedi's Saber: Make sure that the saber textures are set (I think this is done in the actor cog.)

4. Saber Color Selection: Also would likely be done through cog. Not sure how though.

5. Round Elevator: Of course, just buuild the 3do in JED or some other modeling program, then import it into your level with the Template Creator in JED. Once that's done, apply the necessary elevator cog, and you're all set.

6. Bacta Tank Room: Yes this can be done. I think it's in the Sector Flags section in JED. There's a section that causes a sector to damage a player. Set the damage to a negative value and it should heal the player.

7. Teleporter: Would be done through cog. Check out the CTF cogs. They're set up that when you walk into a sector it teleports you to the start area depending on which team you pick. Not quite sure of the verbs used though.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
