3do request for a friend
2006-08-18, 6:20 AM #1
Hello everyone,

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to post this, but I have an important request to make on behalf of a friend of mine. Everyone might remember him as JakeB, who had a few levels here on Massassi. He is blind but he loves to play JK, and Daredevil is his guy. Anyway, I am in the process of re-creating a Single Player mod of Daredevil for him for JK. And I am seeking a Matt Murdock cane 3do weapon to replace the lightsaber. No one has ever made anything like that. All I have found is Gamorrean axes, brown sticks, or swords, but no cane. I am not mathematically or geometrically inclined at all, so if I was, I would not ask someone else to make this if I could. Please, if anyone out there still makes 3dos at all, would you please make this for my friend Jake? The only thing I found that would be a lame replacement for him is a crowbar colored red. If anyone needs pics, let me know. I found a few of them yesterday. I forgot to mention that it would be based on the one from the Ben Affleck movie from 2003. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest registering at www.jkhub.net and submitting your project there. It's probably a better way to gather some interest of the modellers. :)

Thanks. I did that and have repeated my request over there. Thanks for the tip.

If you have already done some work on your mod, just create a project page and show some screenshots, put up a download if you have a playable beta, etc. etc. It all helps in creating interest in your mod. :)

ORJ,

I'll consider it. Actually, I have started making this as a personal mod for Jake but will consider uploading it for everyone else. He really likes Daredevil, and he asked me to make this as a personal favor, because he lost his previous version due to a virus, I guess, and he wasn't able to save it before his computer crashed, so I am actually making him a better version. JediKirby has already responded and is willing to make this the weapon model(s). I left a response for him about making the standard cane a replacement saber model; also, the handle with blades out version for a gun replacement which would fire a grappling hook projectile (just one of the pre-existing versions of such because it would require a WHOLE lot of coding to make a metal lanyard with a grappling hook on the end). The skin is something that someone made 7 years ago, Wolf from the JK clan The Dark Ones. I am making custom sounds taken from the Ben Affleck movie for both the skin and fot the cane wherever possible. Also, I am going to include the backflip since the character did quite a bit of that in the movie. And this will also have custom loading screens made from images from the movie of just him, more than likely. Actually, I need to ask Jason whether or not he wants Daredevil to even have the guns or Force Powers, since Daredevil isn't a Jedi and doesn't use futuristic space guns ;) . I can edit the .dat files to take out all of the Force Powers but Jump, and block all the wepons except the Bryar and Saber. He mentioned some really "cool" Force Power hacks I had come across years ago. If he wants those, I can include them. Anyways, that's where it stands right now. When everything is finished, I'll see about posting screens. Honestly, I haven't fooled around with editing or playing this game in five years since my old computer died in 2001 or 2002; by the time I got a new machine in January 2003, I moved on to Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, which are vastly superior graphically.

To a_person,

Well, as I said, I don't really ask him. He gave me the answer some years ago, and I left it at that. I don't really bring up the subject. I hadn't heard from him in about five years actually, and then earlier this week he e-mailed me for this first time in that timespan. He's actually got a few levels here as I stated in my previous post; also, he may have some programs that none of us know of that help aid him in playing PC games. Bless his heart, I feel bad that he is still stuck playing JK when there's better ones out there like Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. I even told him about a jedi Academy skin of Daredevil to see if he was interested in playing that game, but I guess not. He's a really good friend. I hope that somewhat answers your question and puts that question to rest for whomever else may ask it.

Actually he has an advantage as he wouldn't judge the game based on its graphics. And the rest of JK is pretty solid except maybe its AI.
