Question about MP MOTS
2006-11-04, 10:23 AM #1
How do I get AI's into multiplayer? Things like StormTroopers?
Trust me with your life but not your money or your wife.

Sadly, JK and MOTS offer little in the lines of good AI in MP (unlike Quake 1, which is awesome). Anyways, you can use normal cogs to spawn guys for your levels, but there's a catch:
The AI won't be synchronized on all computers.
In otherwords, the host might see the stormtrooper at one spot shooting at him, but a different player might see the SAME stormtrooper at a different spot shooting at him. This makes gameplay annoying, as you will see people attack nothing but on their screen they are attacking the AI.

SO
The solution is tricky cogging. Checkout any "Co-op" (cooperative) levels like Chaos Eternal. They use the following technique:
MP SYNCHED AI COGS:

The second one down.

The catch here is, you have to enter EVERY piece of data manually, which gets pretty monotonous. Also, it has its limitations but it does work. Too bad 9 years ago LEC wasn't thinking CO-OP
This is retarded, and I mean drooling at the mouth
