What is the best 3do maker/editor?

I was wondering what would be best program to make and edit 3do's?

I have JED v95 beta is it good for making 3do's or should I get something else for making them.
And is making 3do's better or is converting some other format into 3do's better.
Am I right that JK 3do's are different to normal 3do's or are they the same?:psyduck: :D

I think Milkshape might be one of the few editors with direct 3do support (you need a plugin, though). Other 3d-modellers force you to export into a metaformat, then import into JED again to convert. Milkshape is shareware, I think, but very cheap, so you might first want to look into that.
I've always modelled in JED directly, but specialised modelling programs provide a lot of comfort-functions that JED is lacking. Also, texturing in JED can be frustrating.
