Is it possible to display subs in the intro-vids of JK & MotS?

Hi.
We at "LucasArts-Patches" (german translation-site) are currently doing translations of JK and MotS to german and we have problems displaying subtitles in the intro-videos. Does anyone know a way to make the game display subs there? Most of the intro-subs are already in the "cutstrings.uni" file, but nothing is shown during the video...

Another way to display subs is to "brand" them into the vid itself. worked fine for JK but fails on MotS, because the vids are in SAN-format. Is there a tool to convert such vids to avi (to add the subs) and back to SAN?

Help would be greatly appreciated!

greets,
Gandimann

There's an option to display sub-titles in the options of JK. Goto Setup, then General, and it's the top left check box.

I know that. Turning on the subs in the setup does not work for the intro-videos.

Ugwars changed all the subtitles in all the cutscenes of JK. Look how it was done there.

As for SAN files, no, there is no way to do that. The SAN filetype is owned by lucasarts and no tools have ever been released to decode or encode SAN files.

I know how to change the subs (already done that completely). My problem ist, that, even with subs turned on in the options, the subtitles are not shown in the intro-video. The Ug Wars MOD has the same problem. Even the unchanged original jedi knight does not display subs in the intro. My question is: Is it possible to change that?

The CUTSTRINGS.UNI already has subs for the intro-dialogue, but they are NOT DISPLAYED in the intro (even if subs in the options are activated).

The UgWars subs, and regular JK's, show up fine for me. Maybe try running JK with the -windowgui command switch; this fixed video color problems with cutscenes on my friend's computer, possibly it might help your subs show up.

e.g. in a batch file or on the command line:
jk.exe -windowgui

:)
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

The " jk.exe -windowgui" did not help, but after i'd installed the 1.01 patch the intro-subs are there! Should have installed that damn patch before...sorry for bothering...

One problem solved, another problem still exists. The "Along time ago..." and the STAR WARS text have no subs (of course, why should they?). Well...I'll have to put german subs there, too. To do that I'll have to ADD subs into the CUTSTRINGS.UNI. Is somebody familiar with adding subs?
