..If no one answers my question! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/mad.gif]

I've asked this about 5 times.. Can anyone tell me why my custom skin is crashing JK?!?!? It crashes JK right when I try to select it from the multiplayer characters screen, right before the model shows up, it crashes JK and boots me out into windows. I added my 3do to the \resource\3do folder, I added my custom face mat to the \resource\mat AND \resource\3do\mat folders, and I added the modified models.dat file to the \resource folder, (and yes, the number of models in my models.dat file is correct!).

WHAT THE ******!*$(!$(!@ IS GOING ON??

(BTW, did I mention I've asked this 5 times before and got no help?)

Its becuase it either can't find your mats, you incorrectly named a mat or miss spelled it in the 3do file or your number of models is wrong. those are the only things I have ever encountered.

. . . Great. Now, when I tried to reopen my 3do to see if I misspelled the mat's filename, I got a bunch of unreadable gibberish. I'm screwed. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

This can be cause by a couple of things. The first is just what was said above. It cannot find a specified mat. A way to see which mat this is, or even if this is what the problem is, go to your Player folder, choose your name, and then open up the .MPC file that you would be using when you choose a skin. Change the 3do name to the 3do name of your skin. When you go into the game, don't go to the skin selection screen, just choose the appropriate MPC and start the level. This will tell you which mat it is that's missing.

Another thing that could be is a bad model. If you added anything on to the model, you may have incorrectly named one of the meshes, say making the head's mesh ky_neck, or something of that sort. Again, this can be found out by the same method I stated above.

Lastly, if JK is crashing at the skin selection screen, it could be because of the models.dat. Make sure that the number of models at the top of the file is one more than the number of the last model in the list. Also, make sure there are no duplicate model numbers, etc. Good luck.

Also in the models.dat, if you don't select an .snd file for the character it'll crash the game.
