It claims it can't load the level, however there are no errors in the consistancy checker. I'm using a sprite, could that cause the problem?

Make sure all the settings are right in the episode editor. If there's something wrong with the sprite or a custom 3do it could cause that. Also if you have more than 450 things (i.e. 3dos) in the level it will do that.
