Is there a way to designate an index vertex?

I need to be able to choose which vertex is snaped to the grid, how?

Select the vertex, and hit Shift+S. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I know what you're really asking. There are several tricks to get around your problem, but it'd be helpful to know what you're trying to do to tell you the right trick.

If you want to cleave a surface at a wierd angle, but it's set to the wrong vertex, multiselect the surface, then go to vertex mode, and select the vertex you want without messing up your angle.

There are other methods depending on what you're trying to accomplish, so let us know.

No, that's not it. All I want to do is make the index vertex different (the index vertex being the vertex that shows when in sector mode). JED uses that vertext to snap the sector to the grid, and with an odd shaped sector, it's hard to line up without creating a new index vertex.

Right now I'm just screwing around with different methods of perfect polygons, and some of this stuff is geting a bit complex.

Like I said, I didn't know what you were trying to do.

So you're trying to drag that sector and line it up with another, but it won't do it cleanly 'cause of grid snap? If that's the case, here's what I do:

Select the other sector's nearest vertex.
Shift+S...
Make sure your GridSnap is .05.
Select the sector you want moved, and hit insert on the snapped-to vertex.
Delete the old sector, and move the new one.
GridSnap .005 if necessary.

The key is getting the sector on the same snap as the other sector.

I realize it's kinda tricky. If you experiment with different grid snaps, you can probably do it. Even better, if somebody that knows a real trick shows up...

Or simply add the sector you want to move to multiselection, then go to vertex mode, select the vertex that you want snapped to the other sector, and use snap to vertex..
