Transparent 3do's

I wanted to make a 3do of a door with a see-through window in it. I saw a picture where it looked like this had been done in the Editor's Corner, but did not get the name of the author. If you have any ideas how to accomplish this please post or email me.

This may not be the answer you want, but, you can cleave a window through the new door (then merge all the sectors back into one). You'd need to use a custom door cog that didn't change the flags of the adjoin surfaces for the sector that the door is in. I'm doing that for my own door 3DO's.

I don't know if you can have a transparant window MAT on a 3DO. I'd also like to know if it's possible to make a 3DO that uses see-through MATs (like the kind of MAT for a slash grate). I did realize you can animate a mat on a 3DO, such as a door, after seeing the blinking red light on the manual sequencer charge. You can use the regular mat animating cog and specify the name of the mat (but this animates the mat anywhere it appears).

What I saw in the Editor's Corner if I remember correctly was like Luke's land speeder and it had a see-through windshield.

You CAN use transparent mats like slash grate on 3dos, just take a look at level 3 of single player, near the start when you push in that window to get inside (the window 3do has a transparent mat, so does the repeater i think) but JED doesnt seem to code transparent mats right on 3do surfaces.

YES, you can have a surface flagged as translucent on 3dos, i've done it. Just remain aware that while you can see the translucent surface, if it's double sided you can only see one side (in a windshield you won't see both sides of the glass)
