A Newbie Question

Hello

I am new to editing JK and MotS. I currently have JED for editing but I am seeing other programs or utilities that I might need. In your views which utilities are most critical to use or have? What are they used for and why do you like them over others?

I also am wondering if there is any high level archetecture documentation about JK or MotS. The hows and whys so to speak of why you all do the things the way you do them.

Last one for now, is there a utility that would allow for level design in like 3ds Max and then import them into JED or some other "cleaner" way than cleaving everything from boxes.

These are just some questions...thanks for your time...

In terms of other programs, I would just start off with JED until you feel comfortable with it. The additional programs fall into two general categories. One, programs called "plug-ins" that can be used in JED to automate certain tasks. Goal! and StairCrazy are two of the most popular. Second, programs that permit you to customize certain elements such as MAT Master that allows you to create your own MATs (textures) or PuppetJedi that lets you perfrom complex movements for ships and other 3DOS. These files can then be sued in JED for your level.

As to importing architecture from another program, I'm afraid you really have to use JED.

Finally, read and try all of the tutorials first and post questions here.
