Startup Cog Question
2001-01-10, 3:50 PM #1
Hello, all. I have a question... in a tutorial I just read by MikeC, I found out that to put in force powers, you must edit the startup cog. My question is, since I'm already well-into a level, if I do remake the startup cog, will it mess it up and not work; or will it just be a simple, easy transition?

It will not mess anything up.

No, it won't change anything unless you have made other custom changes to the startup cog (you might loose those if you use Jed's startup cog creator).

Startup Cog Creator...? I don't need some special program for this, do I?

Yes you do. It's called NotePad. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Cogs are simple little text files. A good method is to extract a few from user-made levels, and see how we do it. What Mike was refering to was a button in Jed's Episode Editor that generates a simple startup cog.

You need to read the great cog tutorial you'll find here at Massassi. You also desperately need to download the JKspecs.

Cog is way easier than you'll think at first. The startup cogs are way easier than most. There's also a really good tutorial on startup cogs over at The Admiral's Command Chamber.
