what would make the walkplayer "dissappear" in third person view while swimming at the surface of water?

To make the player invisible, you have to change the player's GeoMode to 0. Check out the JKSpecs for SetGeoMode.

As for triggering by using the third person view, I have no idea. Why would you want to?

Do u mean it is happening or do u want it to happen? I do know the cause if u are using a custom skin and it is dissapearing.

Well... What causes it? I have that happen sometimes in my Mara Jade thing. I'm clueless. [http://216.105.160.32/html/confused.gif]

yeah, that's what I'm saying- it's happening and I don't want it to. Right now I'm only using the default Kyle skin. if I look "up" (below the water surface) he reappears, but otherwise he's invisible. How do I fix this?

Oh.

I think what you need to do is take a look at the entries for both sides of the surface of the water. Can you see through the water from above?

It may be a translucency issue.

That's not what he's talking about. Sometimes, if you're swimming in 3rd person POV, with the camera right behind the actor, right about eye level, the actor's 3do goes invisible. And it only seems to happen in certain areas. Weird.

exactly! It only seems to happen at certain angles or when the camera is over a certain point or adjoin- but I can't figure it out. I took a closer look at the surface and the sectors but couldn't find any inconsistancies with the areas I have problems with and the areas that work fine (both happen in the same river).

I had that exact same problem in my other levels. Here's why it does it:

It is a translucency problem. There is only one way to fix it due to the way the game engine works. All you have to do is make the water translucent on both sides. When I made the pool in Dralloc Mall, I made the top of the water normal with no translucency. Later on, while playing the level, I noticed the problem you are having.

So, do that and it should be all better! [http://216.105.160.32/html/smile.gif]
