Hi, is this at all possible? I've tried making a stormtrooper patrol through a door with the 00_aipatrol.cog, but the door doesn't work at all, even when I touch the pressure plates. I think this is impossible unless someone makes me the right cog. Any takers?
I want the stormtroopers to knock on the door with some sort of sound cog, then open it and start shooting. Hopefully this is possible in single player.

Sure it's possible, you just need to make a cog to do it.

All you need to do is add 'OpenDoors' to the ai file of the actor.

Also, the reason why the pressure plates don't activate the door when the the actor walks on them is because actors don't generate messages that are sent to the cogs. ie: crossed, entered, touched, etc.

Okay, now Ive checked all the ai files for the fieldtrooper, and they already have OpenDoors in them...
Am I looking at the wrong file? I opened up the res2.gob and looked under ai then opened them in wordpad. All the st2020.ai files have OpenDoors in them... maybe Im sposed to add a number next to it? Jipe's working on a cog for this one, but Ive yet to hear from him.

Nevermmind guys, I just had to put the right ai file in my project dir(which i didnt do) no need to edit anything, just copy and paste with explorer!

Well, I guess somethings wrong now, because the trooper stops right at the door when going on his aiframepatrol. Whenever he is after me when attacking, the door will open for him. Somethings wrong, I got it to work at first, but now it doesn't and I dont know what I did. \\bummer//

Concerning AI and doors, they seem to go through doors even "locked" doors when fighting you. I was wondering about a patroling AI also, one that uses elevators and doors, etc. My guess (newbie here) for a patroling AI is that you design a cog that moves them from one frame reference to the next, when they "arrive" at the frame ref in front of the door, then the cog opens the door and then sends the AI to the next frame. I don't know if that will work.

I'm interested in the solution too, from an opposite problem: how do you prevent AI from going through locked doors when chasing you?

I don't know a thing about cog, except that
I'm really scared of it! Jipe is working on a cog for me, but it should have been done a while ago(guess he got swamped with homework) I'm sure he can make a cog for your ai trapped behind a locked door... But I dont have his email or icq#. Ive tried everything, and I can't understand why it worked the first time, then stopped. Im gonna post the gob file for my levelhere If anyone can find out why the ai wont go through the door[s], then post the reason why or upload your version of my lev in this BBS!
