Sky and sound problem
2001-01-22, 4:09 PM #1
I posted a while ago about the sky in my level causing the sound to... change. The sky is nothing fancy, just a sky texture on all surfaces of a sector above my level, flagged as impassable sky. It seems to slow down the renderer but the frame rate doesn't change when the sky is in the scene. I'll try and show what it sounds like in text: the lightsabre hum:
normal - Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuur
w sky - DuuuDuuuDuuuDuuuDuuuDuuuDuuuDuuur
This happens with every sound. Can anyone explain what's happening and maybe, how to fix it?
Thanks

Are you sure it's related to the texture?

What happens when you replace what I assume to be a custom texture with, say, the default texture?

No, it's not a custom texture. It probably should be but I only have mspaint at the moment so I didn't waste my time trying to use that. it's not actually the texture, its the surface flags. It's when the sky flag is set that it does the sound. Not when there's no flag or the 'Sky (different type)' flag is set. Is it possible that it's going too fast for the game? i've seen that happen before in other games but I don't know if it could happen in Mots.
