I've been trying to change amounts of light in my sectors and nothing seems to work. I read the tutorial on this site and nothing happened. Even when I reduced a light's range and shoved it into a corner, the whole sector was still fully lit. Is there something that I'm forgetting to do, or not doing right?

Are you calculating the lighting after you move them? Also try making the light range not as big as the sector and then calculating the lighting.

Also, make sure "fully lit" is not checked for 3d preview...

OK. I tried moving it first and nothing happened. The checkbox for "fully lit" is not checked. Still nothing happened. I pushed ctrl-L and the lighting did go down a shade in the preview window, but would not go any further, and it looked like a universal change to the whole level. BTW, what does ctrl-L do exactly? And also the tutorial said to use F11, but that didn't do anything either.

It's the calculate lighting command. You have to use it for any lighting changes to take effect.

Look and see if there's anything set for the sector extra lighting.
