Cannot load level?
2001-02-08, 2:42 PM #1
I have been editing for a long time now. I deleted my JED because it was acting funny and i got another one. It works fine and all but now when i GOB even that box that first comes up when you make a new level and try and play it it say, "Cannot load level". I've never gotten that error before. I think the new JED i got is screwed up.

Does anything come up in the consistency checker?

Is the walkpayer in a sector?

Is the jkl correct in the episode editor? One time it took off the .jkl for some reason and I couldnt figure out why.

Yeah, the new JED seems buggy. I don't even use 16-bit mats. I think that I may switch back...

What would 16-bit have to do with it? The level would load, it's just that all 16-bit mats would look totally distorted.

Jed .95 isn't the culprit here. I suggest you carefully re-read "The Basics", and refresh your memory about the Episode Editor. You made a mistake someplace. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I've had absolutely no problems with the new Jed.

If there's nothing in the consistency checker it's most likely a problem with the settings in the episode editor.

I always use the consistancy checker and i always do the episode editor the same way. I have been doing nothing different this time but it seems something is not right. I think i may have fixed it so don't worry [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I have JED .95 and I alwas get that error, I have never used any other JED so don't know if one is better, but just letting u know, you are not alone, i have tryed almost everything.........

Jed .95 has absolutely nothing to do with that error. I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. I find v.95 to be superior to v.94 in every aspect possible.

I think this is probably an episode editor problem. It's common to see a problem with the .jkl it references being different from the one that gets created. This happens when the .jed and .jkl files are not the same or when they are more than one word.

Go to my web site (link is in my sig) and go to the editing help/troubleshooting section. I have all the common causes of this problem listed there.
