How do i texture a translucent adjoining wall without it going into HOM mode? I almost got a headache while looking at it.

make sure it's adjoined. if you're trying to get a non-adjoined wall to be translucent, or not rendered, it will cause HOM, if i'm not mistaken.

Did you have a geo of 0 on an unadjoined surface? Or maybe a geo of 0 on a surface flagged as translucent?

I agree with adrenal_medulla, if you put a transparent mat on an unadjoined surface you get HOM (hall of mirrors). So I learned that non-slash grates need non-transparent mats.
