I wonder if anyone would be as cordial as to give a complete rundown on this subject as that would surely facilitate certain things, yes?
Also: What purpose does the Extra mode in JED 95 serve?

Be VERY careful when dragging vertices around. If you do it wrong you will get nonconvex sectors or nonplanar surfaces.

The only thing I ever do with vertices(which is quite a bit) is use them to snap the grid to. Once you're doing that in your editing, you're starting to get Jed working for you.

If you want to do things like what Mike warned about, I'd tell you not to. If you need to tweak your outdoors architecture, use the Point Extruder plugin from Code Alliance.

Thanks for your information and perseverance.
I actually find Point-extruder to be highly instrumental in the creation of exterior scenes.
Still, besides ushering the vertices themselves to and fro... there are other, more arcane uses of them, is that not true?

On the more serious side: When you drag\cleave\edit surfaces and sectors ( possibly attainable with edges, as well) while holding down shift, as opposed to Ctrl, you might be able to streamline the aforementioned operation to adjacent vertices rather than the grid. This may sound hazy, confounding or even slightly disturbing, and I can conceive that.
Trouble is, I am not at all conversant with this technique myself and have heard scant of it, so...

Well... that WAS an enriching experience!
And an invigorating one.

Only now do I grasp the magnitude of what you said of making the grid snap to a vertex of one's choice. I got down to testing it moments ago, and I can hardly marshall my sentiments as it has wholly altered my outlook on JED already.

I have always known of the shift+S command, albeit I never deemed it useful and therefore has never utilised it.
I sincerely hope this does not make me appear a complete oaf.

Thanks again.

Fear not. Your prediliction for verbose assertions precludes the possibility.

I've also been wondering what the extra mode is really for.
