Is there anything special I need to know about using 16bit mats? Will matmaster convert 16bit bitmaps to mats? Can you use them on 3dos? Any info please!

No you can't use MatMaster. You have to get Mat16 from www.outpostd34.com to make 16 bit mats.

You can use them on 3dos no problem. However, If you are making mats for a 3do I suggest you turn off the auto-create mip maps feature when you convert the bmp to a mat.

Other than that the only thing you need to be aware of (which you probably already are) is that they will only work on a computer with a 3d video card.

Mike, I think it's time to add 16-bit to the FAQ. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Allright - I've updated the editing help section of my site with info on 16 bit mats as well as a few other things I've been planning to put in there.

This may sound like a dumb question, but is there any way to modify or convert the mats that came with the game to make them 16bit? That way, you could use mats from what were once multiple colormaps in the same level.

Hell yes! I've done it with several of them (for levels still in production).

You know Rhettman - you should zip those up and release them as a pack.

Never thought about it. I guess I could. It's mostly the 54_sith.cmp, so I don't know how useful they would be to people(noone ever seems to use that cmp).
